To put a sheet rope you need an attachment point (window or fence), hammer, nail and 2 sheet ropes per level you need to go down. Right click on the attachment point and you will get an option to attach rope. Once the rope is attracted, you can press and hold e to climb up or down. Unfortunately once animation started you can't change your mind.
